Who said the perfect storm is limited to just weather conditions?
Not so.
After a series of unexpected personal events, those occasional business situations chained together each demanding attention, and even an email management service putting in its licks…
The water is now calm and all is well on the high seas.
That of course means October’s Tune Booster is now out.
Those of you who signed on during the free evaluation period?
Baby? I’m yours for that one tune.
You know who you are. Send me your selected tune. I see at least one has jumped the gun on that already.
I’ll get to them as soon as I can, in the order they come in.
Patience please.
For those who didn’t take me up on the offer before the old issue of Tune Booster was pulled down?
Not much I can do at this point. Maybe there’ll be a next time, maybe.
With that bit of housekeeping out of the way…
The Ides of October blows in title talk for Tune Booster.
By the time you’re done reading this month’s issue, you should have titles oozing from your pores.
I know you’ve heard songwriting ‘gooroos’ emphatically state you need to start with a title, and you’ve heard some state let the title evolve.
Gimme a break.
Find the truth this month.
You’ll also find a ton of places you can find them. I think I list off 34 places.
In fact, I’ll take you on a little Tore de Title.
Do a little real-time writin’.
I pick some places to cop some titles, listen in, and pop the top on some phrases anyone can use to build a song.
I don’t even care if you use any or all of the titles I came up with for your own songs.
Have at it. I care not. They’re all winners as you’ll see.
And there’s a ton of them as you’ll find out.
Well, provided you are subscribed to Tune Booster that is.
You’ll also find places to look for them which you might not have thought of.
You’ll even find out how a friggin’ songwriting hermit could find enough titles to last years, in just minutes.
I ain’t kiddin’ either.
It’s so easy.
You’ll learn why titles, as much as they seem important to the song, can mean absolutely nothing.
I know, that sounds kind of opposite of what I just said. Not true though.
And, it isn’t what you’ve always heard, but it’s true.
There isn’t a kickass title anywhere. You’ll see why. And you’ll totally agree with me too.
I’ll give you a Baker’s dozen worth of techniques or elements of titles which help them be remembered and give them character.
You’ll also see how old-school song title placement isn’t what’s been happening all the time.
Some of those old rules… shot to hell.
I even show a couple artists who pulled the trigger on that one. Household names you’ll recognize too.
And, of course you’ll be put to work with the Skin in the Game, and Solo Exercises
Let’s not forget the cool object writing topics.
You have been object writing haven’t you?
Maybe we should do something on object writing in the future here as a bonus.
I like that. I feel like a bonus should be in the near future.
Agree? Reply with “heck yeah, gimme my bonus.”
Anyway… ‘tis enough for ye subscribers to take in this time.
For those of you not subscribed?
Oh well.
