Silly rabbit, fix are for kids

The CD is squeezing out its last note…

Songsters are huddled over the lyric sheet…

Scrubbing their brain to give a nice, but constructive evaluation on the song that just finished.

After all, that’s what they do at songwriting meetings, at least part of the time.

It’s quiet.

Pens and pencils are scribbling and making arrows.

Crisscrossing this and that.

Making happy faces and circling words.

Finally, someone opens up and starts commenting.

Then another.

And another.

Then there was some excuses going on from the songwriter who brought in the tune.

More comments.

More excusing.

More comments, good ones even…

Finally, after maybe 10-15 minutes the person says…

Silly rabbits, fixes are for kids.

Well, that’s not exactly what she said.

She said, it didn’t matter. The song had its track and she wasn’t changing it anyway.

Here’s the tip.

Don’t do that to your songwriting pals.

They get a little upset wasting their time.

If you’re bringing in a tune to be critiqued , let it get crits.

At least have the good sense to shut your yap, scoop up the remarks, and get out of Dodge without pissing people off for the next time you actually want a crit on your tune.

That had absolutely nothing to do with September’s Tune Booster, but its sage advice nonetheless based on many a evaluation sessions.

September’s issue is right around the corner. https://www.tunesmithtips.com/tunebooster/
