If she’d only known

Someone I know, who shall remain nameless, because she reads these…

Plus, she’d kill me when she gets home. So there is that too, right?

Any who.

This someone took a 5-hour trip to visit Mom for Mom’s Day.

About 4:45 into the trip she stopped again for gas, realized she lost her pack of Id’s and credit cards.

Oh boy!

Hey, it happens. Years ago, I lost an entire wallet and a full week’s driver’s advance pay. I pulled an eighteen-wheeler through the tollway, slid over to stretch my legs, and took off.

My wallet was still on my lap when I was done at the toll booth and I didn’t notice it when I jumped out of the truck.

Anyway, back to this mystery woman.

Once realizing her packet of cards was gone. She called me. A perfect stranger.

I immediately went to canceling every card she had.

She called the cops in the town about two-hours back to see if they could look for it at a convenience station she was at.

They couldn’t find it. The station clerks didn’t find it. It wasn’t in the car.

It was gone.

Here’s where it gets interesting.

She gets to her mom’s place, and her mom gets a call from our… oops, this mystery woman’s niece asking if Aunt So-n-so lost her credit cards.

Huh?

Turns out some honest person found them at the pumps at the second dgas stop, brought it to the station attendant, the attendant remembered a childhood friend from 7-years back had an aunt with the same last name. The attendant got on Facebook and contacted our… whoops the mystery woman’s niece to verify, and let the niece know he had her cards and to come get them.

Incredible as this connecting of the dots from honest person to an attendant with incredible memory and research ability…, not to mention the mileage covered in the circle of communications, and the “What are the chances of that?” factoring in…

Guess where the cards were?

Underneath the car at the second station where this mystery woman was making all her calls.

The packet must have slipped out of her belt purse thingy when getting out to put gas in, and bounced under the vehicle.

So what’s the point?

She was practically sitting on the very thing she needed. It was there all the while.

No need to go to all the fuss to find it. If she’d only known.

Not unlike TuneBooster. ‘Cept now you DO know.

It’s right here.  You’re practically sitting on it. Watch, or it’ll sit up and bite your back pockets.
