Sounds nutso, but even health-crazed songwriters use the junkiest food to write their best songs.
I never said they eat or drink it, I said they use it.
More accurately, they use the same tactics as the junk food industry does.
Think I’m full of __it?
Lookee here.
Everybody knows what sugar does to you, right?
The trick word is EVERYBODY.
Can we say fat, rotten teeth, and diabetes?
So, since EVERYBODY knows this, it’s not smart ‘bidniz’ for junk food companies to list sugar outright in the ingredients.
Do any of these ring a bell?
Anhydrous dextrose, cane crystals, corn sweetener, corn syrup, corn syrup solids, crystal dextrose, evaporated cane juice…
There’s like 56 of these little sweeties out there, sugar dressed up in disguise.
Don’t ya love Evaporated Cane Juice?
Pretty much add water to sugar, dissolve it, and let it evaporate back to sugar again.
Whether you are a healthnut or a junk-food junky, it’s a great lesson in songwriting.
Sugar is the cliché and it’s up to you to do exactly what the ad people and chemical engineers have done…
Find a different way to say things you’ve heard ten-thousand times. Granted, sometimes it’s a stumper.
And, it’s a lot easier to do if you have another writer to chip in on a song.
And November’s Tune Booster tells you how you can find co-writers and over 30 tips on co-writing in general.
